Anita Brookner

Anita Brookner was born in London and, apart from several years in Paris, lived there for the rest of her life. She taught at the University of Reading, was a Lecturer in Art History at the Courtauld, and was the first woman to hold the position of Slade Professor at Cambridge. She became a full time novelist in 1980 and published a total of 22 novels. In 1984, Anita Brookner won the Booker Prize for Hotel du Lac. She died in 2016.
