Born and bred in Wolverhampton, Kate went to Wolverhampton Girls’ High School before studying law at the University of Birmingham. She qualified as a solicitor in 2008, specialising in civil and commercial litigation at a law firm in the West Midlands. Between 2011 and 2019, Kate moved into the water industry and worked as senior legal counsel at Severn Trent Water. She specialised in defending criminal prosecutions in respect of environmental and health and safety offences, all while learning more than she ever thought she’d need to know about sewage. Kate has also lectured in law at Birmingham City University and now works as a Consultant and Company Secretary to a water industry customer complaints scheme based in London.
In her spare time, Kate loves travelling and walking in the Shropshire countryside. She lives in Wolverhampton with her husband and a tiny dachshund named Peanut.
