Shane O’Mara is a Professor of Experimental Brain Research at Trinity College Dublin and a Principal Investigator in, formerly Director of, the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience, one of Europe’s leading research centres for neuroscience. He is also a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator and a Science Foundation Ireland Principal Investigator.  His first book is entitled Why Torture Doesn’t Work: The Neuroscience of Interrogation (Harvard University Press; 2015), which examines brain function under extremes of stress and duress, as well as the science, ethics and practice of human information gathering. His second book is entitled A Brain for Business – A Brain for Life (Palgrave Macmillan, May, 2017). In Praise of Walking¸ his third book, was published in 2019 by Bodley Head.
