Tara Porter grew up in rural Gloucestershire. She worked in the US in her late teens and early twenties, before returning to the UK to study for her doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
She is now the Lead Clinical Psychologist in the CAMHS Eating Disorder Team in the Royal Free London NHS Trust in Hampstead, alongside working as a School Engagement Trainer at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. Tara is also the Mental Health Columnist at the Times Educational Supplement, and runs her own private practice. As well as working with children and adolescents, Tara has three children of her own and lives in North London. You Don’t Understand Me: The Young Woman’s Guide to Life is her first book.
