Beau Riffenburgh is a historian at the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge and is the editor of Polar Record. He is the author of Nimrod the untold story of Shackleton's first epic adventure to Antarctica, which took place a decade before the Endurance voyage and earned him his knighthood and his unchallenged place in the history of polar exploration. He is currently working on a biography of Douglas Mawson, the third name in the triumvirate of great Antarctic explorers. He lives in Wales.
