Caspar Addyman is an infant psychologist and former director of the InfantLab at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has investigated how babies acquire language, concepts and even their sense of time. Since 2012 he has been studying what makes babies laugh and why. In 2016 he worked with Grammy winner Imogen Heap to create The Happy Song. His popular science book, The Laughing Baby, was published in April 2020.

Before moving into academia, Caspar worked as chef and spent 8 years working on financial trading floors, where he was once sacked for being too nice. He has written a novel, Help Yourself, and has his PhD tattooed on his left arm. He lives in Brixton.
