Dan Jacobson, who grew up in Kimberley, South Africa, lived in London for most of his adult life. He is the author of many novels, among them The Beginners, The Rape of Tamar and The God-Fearer; he has also writenn short stories, essays and poetry. His work has received several prizes, including the W. Somerset Maugham and JR Ackerley awards. He was Professor Emeritus in English at University College, London. Dan Jacobson's works include: The Beginners, The Rape of Tamar, The God-Fearer, The Electronic Elephant, Through the Wilderness and Her Story. Dan Jacobson died in 2014.
