David Macphail was born in Scotland. He left home at the age of 18 to travel round the world. Some of his many jobs included working as a pool waiter on a tropical island, a chicken farmer on a kibbutz, a door to door salesman, a grouse beater, and a ghost tour guide. David has written for TV and the stage. He's married and divides his time between Edinburgh and Perthshire.
