Hein de Haas

Hein de Haas is a sociologist and geographer whose has conducted extensive research on migration issues for over the past three decades. Between 2006 and 2015, he was co-director of the International Migration Institute (IMI) at the University of Oxford. He is currently Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) from where he continues to direct IMI. He is also Professor of Migration and Development at the University of Maastricht. His first book, How Migration Really Works, was published by Viking in 2023.
