Susanna Gregory is a pseudonym. Before she earned her PhD at the University of Cambridge and became a Research Fellow at the Scott Polar Research Institute, she was a police officer in Yorkshire. As well as her series of novels set in medieval Cambridge, she has written a number of detective fiction and non-fiction books, including ones on castles, cathedrals, historic houses and world travel. She and her husband live in Wales. She has also written several successful historical novels under the name Simon Beaufort. 2006 saw the publication of the first novel in a new series set in Restoration London; A Conspiracy of Violence. Her notable works include the Matthew Bartholomew series, Thomas Chaloner series and the Sir Geoffrey Mappestone series.
