Late in the Day

At the age of forty-four Anna Bolt finds herself divorced, after twenty-five years of marriage. In theory, she's now free to go anywhere, but she worries too much about everybody else's expectations of her: her daughter, her ageing mother and her employer, all of whom so much depend on her. In practice, she's roped to the ground by other people's expectations as firmly as Gulliver. When Anna loses her job, the picture gradually begins to look different.
