Katie Fforde was born and brought up in London but has lived in Gloucestershire with her husband for the last 40 years. Her first novel, Living Dangerously, was chosen as part of the WHSmith Fresh Talent promotion. There have been about 30 novels since, many of which have been Sunday Times bestsellers, including four that have been number one. She is the founder and sponsor of The Laurie Lee Prize for Writing as well as the debut novel award for the Romantic Novelists Association awards. She also supports The Stroud Book Festival in various ways.
Her family live nearby and she is lucky enough to have seven grandchildren and sees them often.
